Experimental observation of acceleration-induced thermality

چکیده

We examine the radiation emitted by high energy positrons channeled into silicon crystal samples. The are modeled as semiclassical vector currents coupled to an Unruh-DeWitt detector incorporate any local change in of positron. In subsequent accelerated QED analysis, we discover a Larmor formula and power spectrum that both thermalized acceleration. Thus, these systems explicitly exhibit thermalization gap at celebrated Fulling-Davies-Unruh (FDU) temperature. Our derived spectrum, with nonzero gap, is then shown have excellent statistical agreement channeling experiments also provides method directly measure FDU investigate Rindler horizon dynamics confirm Bekenstein-Hawking area-entropy law satisfied experiments. As such, present evidence for first observation acceleration-induced thermality non-analogue system.

Thermality of the Hawking flux

Is the Hawking flux “thermal”? Unfortunately, the answer to this seemingly innocent question depends on a number of often unstated, but quite crucial, technical assumptions built into modern (mis-)interpretations of the word “thermal”. The original 1850’s notions of thermality — based on classical thermodynamic reasoning applied to idealized “black bodies” or “lamp black surfaces” — when supple...

On the origin of thermality

It is well-known that a small system weakly coupled to a large energy bath will, when the total system is in a microcanonical ensemble, find itself to be in an (approximately) thermal state (i.e. canonical ensemble) and, recently, it has been shown that, if the total state is, instead, a random pure state with energy in a narrow range, then the small system will still be approximately thermal w...

Experimental observation of direct particle acceleration by stimulated emission of radiation.

We report the first experimental evidence for direct particle acceleration by stimulated emission of radiation. In the framework of this proof-of-principle experiment, a 45 MeV electron macrobunch was modulated by a high-power CO2 laser and then injected into an excited CO2 gas mixture. The emerging microbunches experienced a 0.15% relative change in the kinetic energy, in a less than 40 cm lon...

Experimental Observation of Femtosecond Electron Beam Microbunching by Inverse Free-Electron-Laser Acceleration

An electron beam microbunched on the optical wavelength scale of ø2.5 mm by an inverse free electron laser accelerator was observed. The optimum bunching was achieved for a 1% energy modulation of a 32 MeV electron beam with 0.5 GW CO2 laser power. The microbunching process was investigated by measuring the coherent transition radiation produced by the energy modulated electron beam. A quadrati...

Experimental observation of decoherence

In the 1980s, theoretical estimates showed that on macroscopic scales I decoherence occurs extremely rapidly, thus effectively precluding the observation of nonclassical I superposition states [21–23]. This immediately led to the question of how we may experimentally observe the continuous action of decoherence and thus the smooth transition from quantum to classical. Several challenges have to...
